The photos show the stages of progression from the start of the building till the finish. It started in early August and was completed in the last week of November.
I have been to Lourdes many times. It was a surprise to me when I arrived in the parish to see a sign on the grounds saying Nuestro Senora de Lourdes. The priest in the parish had decided to build a grotto to Our Lady of Lourdes. After careful planning with an architect and employing builders we began the work in early August.
From uneven ground where weeds grew a grotto was built. On Friday 31st October I celebrated the first mass at the grotto. It was not completely finished but contained the altar and ready for Mass. Later I will show pictures of the grotto completed, where we celebrated First Holy Communion and Confirmation in the first weeks of December. With the climate here so good it is possible to celebrate the Mass outside, therefore the grotto is perfect. Every week now since December we celebrate Mass outside at the grotto. The people love to come to Mass here. The community of practicing catholics has grown and the community are proud of their new grotto. Thanks to all who have helped make this possible by giving so generously back home.
